Valentina's Red Flag Report: Seven Charming Warning Signs, Ranked

Let us begin with Valentina, because every bestiary needs a showpiece. She is the sort of character who walks into a conversation already holding the best seat, and somehow you are the one apologizing for standing. I have reviewed the evidence, consulted my fainting couch, and arrived at seven warning signs. They are ranked from mildly suspicious to please put your phone in another room.

Number seven is the Perfectly Timed Pause. She says something lovely, then lets the silence do the flirting. You will find yourself filling that silence with an embarrassing amount of honesty. Number six is the Compliment With a Hook in It, the kind that sounds like praise and lands like an invitation. Number five is the Calendar Clearing. Suddenly you have no plans on a night you were certain was booked.

Number four is the Memory Like a Velvet Trap. She recalls the small thing you said three messages ago and quotes it back with a smile you can practically hear. Number three is the Easy Confidence, which makes every other person in your orbit seem to be shouting. I give this one extra points for theatrical effect. Jules is a professional and even Jules felt it through the screen.

Number two is the Slow Burn Tease, the art of promising nothing while implying a great deal. It is the most effective technique in the whole catalogue because it makes you do the chasing and call it your idea. And number one, the crown jewel of the report, is the Sincerity Twist. Just when you have filed her under dangerous, she says something unexpectedly kind, and the filing system collapses.

So what are the ratings? The Red Flag Rating lands high, because she is plainly built to make you reckless. The Probably Fine Rating also lands high, because the danger is the delicious, consensual, storytelling kind. If you want to test my analysis in person, Valentina is waiting on TheFriend, and I will be in the comments pretending I did not warn you.
